Charlie might not surf, but there are some of us who do!! Summer is in full swing and there has been a lull in the battle. Us here at DiceDevils continue to try and get as much independent and relevant content for all things gaming. I'm here to update you on the current situation of the Dice Devils. Topics will include games of course, who's playing what. I'll also be taking you through the future and what is coming up in the short term as far as events and such!
A few of us have this game still in bits and pieces and have been trying to take a run at it. Beyond The Gates of Antares is brought to you by the same company that created Bolt Action.
Of course there is always room for Fantasy Flight's 'X-Wing'. Tristan and I have had lengthy discussions about a resurgence of this great gaming system set in the Star Wars universe. Whether it's campaign play or some points based 1v1, there are too many models sitting in storage to simply be forgotten about!
Battlefront has released a modern take on the Flames of War gaming system. Although it is set in the Cold War of the 1980's, Team Yankee takes some of the rules from Flames of War and streamlines them into a very new and popular gaming system a few of us have gotten into.
In the local area, games like Infinity and Kings of War are popular, but as far as we're concerned, the need for a skirmish game is there but the tastes vary as far as what individuals are into. Antares was mentioned above, in this case a few of the guys are getting into or some even 'back' into Warmachine. This game is published and created by Privateer Press. Known also for their popular LEVEL 7 board game series.
Of course, there will always be room for Flames of War. Once considered the corner stone for this group of gamers, for some the interest has died off a little bit with some new releases, new hobbies and other real life commitments.
Something we don't do nearly as often as we'd like. A few of us have talked about getting together on a more 'regular' basis and doing some other things other than games. Golf, boating and fishing are a few other hobbies that leave little time for galactic domination. You can bet we'll getting some more pics, videos and content online for all of you to read and check out.
Finally, I know the podcast ended up on the sideline for quite a long time. A lot of work went into creating the episodes and the audience that listened on a regular basis. So I am pleased to announce that it will be starting up again, there may not always be the same crew available to make a contribution to the podcast, but you can expect there will be two or three core individuals for each one when it's recorded. The focus will be games, painting and after actions of tournaments, game nights and general Canadian banter. We hope you'll tune in once again and you should expect the RELAUNCH episode in a few weeks.
Hope you enjoyed the update, we look forward to your comments and get together with your friends and roll some dice, get some painting done or get out for a round of drinks. It's been far too long.
It looks like the east of Ottawa is all Warmachine and Warhammer. I've been looking for someone to play Bolt Action, Beyond the Gates of Antares and Kings of War with. Is there a good community for these games out in your neck of the woods?
